Trinity College of Dublin with the famous Book of Kells
Founded in 1592 Trinity College is the oldest university in Ireland. Today the college sits on a 40-acre site which retains some of its ancient seclusion of cobbles squares, gardens and parks. The college is famed for the great treasures. These
include the Book of Kells which was written around 800 AD and is one of the most beautifully illuminated manuscripts in the world. The Book of Kells Turning Darkness into Light - Exhibition explains the background of the story of the famous gospel manuscript - the Books of Durrow and Armagh and an early Irish harp. These are displayed in the Treasury and the Long Room which houses over 200,000 of Trinity's oldest books.
Dublin Literary Pub Crawl
Enjoy a fun evening or afternoon following the footsteps of some of Ireland's favourite literary figures through their best-loved pubs and hostelries. The entertainers will act out a few scenes from famous Irish plays in different pubs like the Duke, a pub with Joycean connections, Mulligans, the Palace Bar and McDaids. It combines street theatre with the "craic" that makes Dublin pubs the liveliest in Europe and successfully avoids the tourist clichés that could ruin an evening of high art and superb entertainment.
